World capacity utilization ratio attained 75,4%, an increase of 1% over last year monthly figure.

Dry Baltic Index today was 2.127 -a maximum year level- and the quotation is rising exponentially in the last days.

HYUNDAI STEEL COMPLETARA LA CONSTRUCCION DE SU NUEVO HORNO ALTO A FINAL DE MES
Un mercado del acero en situación de exceso de oferta recibirá 4 Millones más de toneladas anuales al ponerse en marcha el tercer horno alto de Hyundai.
El aumento de la capacidad productiva irá destinado, sólo en parte, a las empresas de automoción de su grupo: Hyundai y Kia. El resto, se distribuirá en 2 millones de toneladas de bobina laminada en caliente y 1,5 millones de chapa gruesa, que se colocarán en el mercado.

BENTELER STEEL/TUBE TO INVEST 975 MUS$ IN LOUISIANA
Benteler Steel/Tube, a division of Benteler Group, with headquarter in Salzburg-Austria, is executing an investment of 975MUS$ in the state of Louisiana-USA.
The first face of the investment project will consist in a facility to hot roll seamless tubes for the energy sector, mainly oil&gas. Afterwards, the company plans to build an electric arc furnace with a capacity of 320.000 Mt steel production.
The plant will be very close to Caddo-Bossier Port on the coastal side of Louisiana.
Fast moving, technology driven, product oriented and medium sized multinational companies seams to perform better in strategy and execution than big integrated groups.
Huge steel plants with captive port, power station, coke plant, blast furnaces, BOF converters and continuous casters, just producing slabs are the Industrial Paradigm of Old Gone Times.
Steel mini-mills based in electric arc furnaces combined with medium to high steel products production oriented to regional markets is a much more advanced and tuned industrial concept for the years to come.
Benteler's decission is on the right way and in the right place. Electricity generation cost in USA is going done and the tendency will continue supported in shale gas exploration and renewable energies.

LA BOBINA LAMINADA EN CALIENTE A 440 EUROS TONELADA EX-WORKS EN EL SUR DE EUROPA
La bobina laminada en caliente cotiza a 450/440 Euros/Tm en los mercados del Sur de Europa, en los que la demanda es baja, al igual que en Turquía.
Las ofertas de HRC de India y Turquía cotizan a 450 Euros/Tm y no encuentran comprador.
Todo hace presagiar que el precio descenderá.

AUGUST STEEL PRODUCTION IN GERMANY DOWN BY 6,3% ON YoY BASIS
